[Dispatch] CAD Upgrade

On Tuesday 10-12-2021 starting at 730am CAD will be upgraded to the latest version.  MDCs and dispatching will operate as normal but with intermittent interruptions. The radio system will operate as normal with no work being performed.

Beginning at 0730am all units shall set one radio to monitor FTAC 310 for City of Austin and FTAC 311 for Travis County ESDs for the upgrade.  This radio channel will be used to relay instructions and for units to report problems to AFD Comm. during the upgrade. DO NOT CALL FIRE DISPATCH ON THE PHONE WITH PROBLEMS.

City will monitor channel 310
County will monitor channel 311

What is expected of me?
During the upgrade you will be directed via radio at specific time intervals during the process to:

  1.  Power Off your MDC. Status will be by radio your Home Radio Channel (FCOM) during this time.
  2.  Power On the MDC. DO NOT LOG IN until directed to do so by COMM staff on your respective monitored channel.
  3.  Log In to the MDC.
  4.  Check for and accept all updates prior to logging in to Mobile. (see below for what to expect)

If the Check for Updates Now button is grayed out you will need to find a Wireless Access Point at a fire station before proceeding as file download over cellular can be too large.

The ESO interface outage should only be a few minutes after the system is upgraded and the CAD team will immediately backfill any missing data. Other services that use downstream data (Inform Browser, Qlik apps, FireViewer etc.) will be delayed for up to 36 hours after the upgrade window.  If after 0130hrs on 10/14/21 you have problems accessing secondary systems please call the Help Desk (512)974-HELP or submit a Service NOW ticket.
