NOTICE OF SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE: GREATER AUSTIN-TRAVIS COUNTY REGIONAL RADIO SYSTEM


  1.  What is happening? ZONE 1 Core 'Patch Updates'


a.       Wednesday, Jan 8th 08:00pm thru Thursday, Jan 9th 04:45am  IMPACT TO NORMAL OPERATIONS DESCRIBED AT ITEM 2A BELOW

1.       MCC Dispatch Console API intermittent or unavailable

b.       Thursday, Jan 9th , 12:01am to 04:45am IMPACT TO NORMAL OPERATIONS DESCRIBED AT ITEM 2B BELOW

1.       1st ZC Switch at 12:01am

a.       System Wide, Site Trunking event lasting up to 5 minutes

2.       2nd ZC Switch at 04:00am

a.       System Wide, Site Trunking event lasting up to 5 minutes



  1.  IMPACTS:
a.       THURSDAY, JAN 9, AT 12:01AM & at 04:00AM - SYSTEM WIDE SITE TRUNKING EVENT
                                                               i.      Field Radio Users will experience site trunking indication
                                                             ii.      All Console Operators should be prepared to use their local backup radio resources.


  1.  WHO IS AFFECTED?
a.       With the exception of Texarkana,
                                                               i.      THIS MAINTENANCE ACTIVITY WILL IMPACT ALL GATRRS DISPATCH CENTERS AND RADIO USERS.


  1.  WHAT IS REQUIRED OF YOU?
a.       As with any/all maintenance occurring on GATRRS, Dispatch Centers should be prepared to use local backup radio resources prior to the start of any maintenance activity.
b.       In the field, subscribers should be aware of maintenance activity in the case that they encounter difficulty communicating with their Dispatcher and/or other subscribers.


  1.  PRIOR TO THE START OF ANY MAINTENANCE :
a.       City of Austin Wireless Communication Services personnel assigned to oversee the work will determine if there is a major reason to postpone or suspend the scheduled maintenance.  Affected dispatch centers (if available) will be contacted prior to the start of this maintenance to check if there is concern or reason to suspend or postpone the activity.
b.       EXAMPLES of justification for calling off scheduled maintenance: Major inclement weather moving into the affected area, a multi-alarm fire in progress, or a major law enforcement related event in progress.  The system and/or site service level as applied to affected coverage areas will be factored into determination for suspending or postponing the maintenance activity.
