Subject: Paging Problems

This message is being sent for the AWACS Paging Team:

We are experiencing problems with some "Maildrop" messages incorrectly going to the "Top Line" of pagers. The paging vendor has been contacted and they are attempting to resolve the issue.

Details follow:
Early this morning pages, such as routine fire dispatches and other public safety updates, that normally went to the
"AWACS News Maildrop" on City and Coalition pagers began to error. Those pages began coming in as a "top line" message on pagers throughout the City and to the other members of the Paging Coalition.

USAMobility is actively working on the system. They believe that the problem is caused by some software changes that were made in their paging terminal over the weekend. However, they are still working to untangle the issue.

Please bear with us. This will be resolved as soon as possible.

This problem should not impact normal paging. However, users may get unwanted "Top Line" pages until it is resolved.

Please distribute this to your pager users as appropriate.
