Please read the following:
Most of the work being performed this week by the Radio Shop will not apply to any of the fire departments in Travis County. Early Friday morning (12AM to 4 AM) some of the Austin/Travis County IR sites will be upgraded and predominantly the ESDs on the edges of the county may be affected for a few minutes.
EVENT 2: 12:01-4:00AM (Thursday "night" into Friday morning) - Austin/Travis IR Site Upgrades. The network router upgrade will cause a momentary site trunking event. The network switches upgrade have the potential to cause a momentary complete site outage. Each site will be done one at a time. The following sites will be upgraded:
· Austin Singleton, 3
· Austin Honeycomb, 4
· Austin Collier, 5
· Austin Bell Springs, 6
· Austin Lost Pines, 7
· Austin Holman, 8
· Austin Creedmoor, 9
· DPS Capital, 10
The DPS Capital site could impact AFD if we had an active incident at the Capital. I believe this is the IR site that provides coverage in the newer underground parts of the Capital building.

Mar 4 Tuesday 12:10-1:10PM - Bastrop MCC7500 Dispatch Network Upgrades. Upon request by Bastrop County, this event was moved to the daytime hours. The Bastrop MCC7500 console site network upgrade will start during this time frame. Austin will contact the dispatch center prior to the outage for a go-no-go and stay on the phone with them until the center is completed. When the MCC7500 switch, routers and CCGW's are upgraded one at a time, there will be several 1-2 minutes of outages on the consoles, therefore, it is recommended that dispatchers use standalone backup control stations and/or portables during that time period (approximately 20 minutes depending on the number of CCGW's). There will be 1-2 minutes of time when there will be no ability to use the conventional resources - so if applicable, Fire Alerting during that period will have to be handled in a different way.
Mar 5 Wednesday 12:01-4:00AM (Tuesday "night" into Wednesday morning) - Prime and IR Site Network Upgrades. The network router upgrade will cause a momentary site trunking event. The network switches upgrade has the potential to cause a momentary complete site outage. Each customer's sites will be done one at a time, however, we will be doing 2 different customers in parallel. Example one Burnet site could be upgraded at the same time as a Llano site. The following sites will be upgraded:
· 1 site at a time:
o Lockhart,41
o Iron Mtn,42
o Lee County,43
· 1 site at a time:
o Burnet Watson, 70
o Burnet 281 North, 71
o Burnet Bertram, 72
o Burnet Lookout Mtn, 73
o Burnet Mustang, 74
· 1 site at a time:
o Llano Lone Grove, 75
o Llano Fowler, 76
· 1 site at a time:
o Blanco Rnd Mtn, 77
o Blanco Mtn Top, 78
o Blanco Church Tnk, 79
Also during this maintenance window, the simulcast sites Austin CW (Site 1), Austin E620 (2) and Williamson County (20) network upgrades will be completed one at a time. The 2 Austin and 1 WilCo simulcast layers have redundant prime site routers, so there will be no site trunking event. However, during the switch upgrades, ½ of the channels will be momentarily disabled through the entire simulcast system.
Mar 6 Thursday 12:01-4:00AM (Wednesday "night" into Thursday morning) -
EVENT 1: Bastrop Simulcast Site Network Upgrades. During this maintenance window, the Bastrop simulcast site 40 network upgrades will be completed one at a time. The simulcast system has redundant prime site routers, so there will be no site trunking when they are upgraded. However, when the remaining network devices occur, there will be a two different momentary ½ channel outages, and then one at a time each remote site will be momentarily disabled.
EVENT 2: Part of the MCC7500 console sites network upgrade will also start during this maintenance window. Austin will contact each dispatch center prior to the outage for a go/no-go and stay on the phone with them until the center is completed. When the MCC7500 switch, routers, and CCGW's are upgraded one device at a time, there will be several 1-2 minutes of outages on the consoles, therefore it is recommended that dispatchers use standalone backup control stations and/or portables during that time period (approximately 20 minutes depending on the number of CCGW's). There will be 1-2 minutes of time when there will be no ability to use the conventional resources - so if applicable, Fire Alerting during that period will have to be handled in a different way. Also Note - During the Austin Energy upgrade, the AIS/Loggers (radio recorders) will stop logging for 1-2 minutes. The list of MCC7500 sites follows:
· DPS, 17
· Leander, 18
· Pflugerville, 30
· AE ECC, 31 <- Logger will momentary stop logging
· Lockhart/Caldwell, 41

When the MCC7500 switch, routers, and CCGW's are upgraded one at a time, there will be several 1-2 minutes of outages on the consoles, therefore it is recommended that dispatchers use standalone backup control stations and/or portables during that time period (approximately 20 minutes depending on the number of CCGW's). There will be 1-2 minutes of time when there will be no ability to use the conventional resources - so if applicable, Fire Alerting during that period will have to be handled in a different way.
