On Sunday, March 10th beginning at 0730 and lasting until approximately 1130, the CAD system will be taken down for maintenance. Unlike the normal outages for Windows updates that occur every 6 weeks or so, this will be a total CAD outage. This includes all MDC functions and all Locution and CAD paging functions. It will require Dispatch to select units for calls and track units "on paper".
Dispatch will have additional staff assigned for this time period, but it is requested that all units stay in quarters to the extent possible during this time frame to reduce the workload of tracking units not on emergency calls and selecting units for assignment.
During this timeframe, please monitor your home channel at all times. In the unlikely event that call volume or other problems would prevent timely notification of the proper unit, Dispatch may announce a call type and address and request that the appropriate unit(s) self-assign.
Since call information via MDC will be unavailable, it is recommended that call information be written down when received to prevent the need of contacting Dispatch via radio for this information while en route.
It is recommended that all map books be updated and checked for accuracy in anticipation of this event.
Calls occurring during this timeframe will not be available in VisiNet Browser until the next shift or possibly later.
