Fire Weather Heads up

Wildland folks,

Red Flag today and elevated Fire Weather situation through Wednesday. Dry winds are going to be picking up this afternoon and be with us until at least Wednesday.

A Low Pressure System is now moving across the Plains and will bring very dry and windy south / southwest winds through Monday night. Expect RH’s to drop to the low 20s / upper teens during the day. Around 0100-0200 Tuesday morning, A cold front will arrive and the winds will shift to North winds increasing to 20-25 mph with gusts to 30. Tuesday will most likely be another Red Flag day.

Fuels are now very dry and ready to burn. Especially note that the 100 hr fuels are now becoming more readily available to burn. http://ticc.tamu.edu/PredictiveServices/FuelsFireDanger.htm

All the ingredients are coming together to possibly see multi operational period fires.
