This memo was sent out today announcing changes to EMS problem naming and response plans. We will be starting the work tomorrow morning. I am sending this to the Dispatch CAFCA group but if you
could pass it along to anyone that may not be included and needs to know, I would appreciate it.

Note that the spreadsheet includes 3 response plans for collisions, currently we only have one. I don’t currently have this built in CAD (will soon) and in the short term it really has no impact
upon how we dispatch units to collisions. However I am choosing to move forward with differentiating the calls as they are received from EMS so that in the future the ground work will be in place if we can take advantage of it.

A new capability of MEDAA (Medical Auto Aid) has been created and all units that need this designation have it assigned already. Several new resources and capabilities have been created using
the “AA” designation, ENGAA, LADAA, MEDAA, TICAA etc. We will be moving forward with changes over the next several weeks that use this designation in response plans instead of ENG00, LAD00, MED00 etc. for auto aid responses. This will allow us to have more
flexibility in CAD programming. Sharing AFD unit designations has started to create problems as the response plans become more complex. I have assigned these resources and capabilities to your units in preparation of upcoming response plan changes. This will
not change who responds or how many units respond, just how CAD processes the response. Once all of the response plans have been updated we will go back through all of the units again and remove anything with an AFD “00” designation.
