WHAT'S HAPPENING: Starting Tuesday, April 18, 08:00AM - through - Wednesday, April 19, 05:30AM
·       Major system and equipment upgrades affecting GATRRS data services, sites and consoles
How does this affect users?
Tuesday, April 18, 08:00AM - through - Wednesday, April 19, 05:30AM
·       All GATRRS RF sites, data services and dispatch console sites will be impacted.
·       There will be momentary site-trunking events and data services will be offline during specific maintenance times (see Maintenance Schedule below).
Maintenance Schedule:
·       Tuesday, 4/18
o   8:00 AM  - 11:59 PM
§  Teams arrive in preparation for the system updates
§  Perform system and baseline check
·       Wednesday, 4/19
o   12:00 AM - 12:30 AM
§  RF sites will go into site Trunking
§  Consoles will "RED X" momentarily during this event
·       Expected Duration: ~ 20 seconds
§  Data services will also be impacted
·       Expected Duration: ~ 5 minutes
o   12:30 AM - 1:30 AM
§  Single link sites may be impacted:  MRG sites, STDC sites, DPS sites, TXDOT(MM18, Mirando, Freer) sites, Permian Basin sites, STRAC, Creedmoor, Lee County, Lockhart, Caldwell, Holman, Jim Hogg, Wilco Taylor
o   1:30 AM - 3:30 AM
§  Consoles co-located at CTECC will "RED X" momentarily during this event
·       Expected Duration: ~ 2 minutes
o   3:30 AM - 4:00 AM
§  RF sites will go into site Trunking
§  Consoles will "RED X" momentarily during this event
·       Expected Duration: ~ 20 seconds
§  Data services will also be impacted
·       Expected Duration: ~ 5 minutes
o   4:00 AM - 5:30 AM
§  All data systems impacted VPN, Wave, OTAR, OTAP, KMF, RM for OTAF, Loc in PTT, Radio Management, IMW, etc.
·       Expected Duration:  ~ 1 hour
§  Consoles co-located at CTECC will "RED X" momentarily during this event
·       Expected Duration: ~ 2 minutes
§  System update is complete
Why are we doing this?
·       This is needed to update GATRRS systems to the latest supported version.
 What's required of me?
·       As with any/all maintenance occurring on GATRRS, Dispatch Centers should be prepared to use local backup radio resources prior to the start of any maintenance activity.
·       In the field, subscribers should be aware of maintenance activity in the case that they encounter difficulty communicating with their Dispatcher and/or other subscribers.
·       Subscribers in the field may be required to power cycle the radio after the 'Site Trunking' event has occurred.
·       Prior to this maintenance:
o   City of Austin Wireless Communication Services personnel assigned to oversee the work will determine if there is a major reason to postpone or suspend the scheduled maintenance.
o   Affected dispatch centers (if available) will be contacted prior to the start of this maintenance to check if there is concern or reason to suspend or postpone the activity.
o   EXAMPLES of justification for calling off scheduled maintenance: Major inclement weather moving into the affected area, a multi-alarm fire in progress, or a major law enforcement related event in progress.
o   The system and/or site service level as applied to affected coverage areas will be factored into determination for suspending or postponing the maintenance activity.
