Subject: MDC MAPPING CHANGES---OCTOBER 3rd

ATTENTION PLEASE
What is happening Tuesday, October 3rd at @ 10 am.

* Beginning at @10am, Communications and CTECC IT will be activating Inform Mobile's new map on all FIRE MDC's.

* Please note that this change has already been applied to a number of agency test MDC's and Operation units with no adverse effects.
Why are we doing this?

* TRITEC Inform Mobile previous mapping engine is no longer supported by Microsoft. The new mapping solution supports TRITEC's Routing server (not yet available) and also allows the MDC's to migrate to Windows 10.
How does this affect me?

* MDC's that do not have the latest Aerial file will receive a Map Configuration Error, 'Unable to add package to map'. This error does not affect MDC or map usage and may be ignored (hit OK and continue). The latest Aerial file is quite large and may only be installed locally. COMM staff is in the process of installing the Aerial file prior to the update.
What is required of me?

* Users must accept the update when the APPLY UPDATES notification is received, once accepted the update will automatically be applied. Please note: An MDC must be connected to a Wireless Access Point (WAP) to receive updates and connects automatically when one is present. All AFD Stations and most ESD Stations are equipped with Wireless Access Points.
How do I get technical support?

* If you experience problems after the update, please contact Fire Communications at (512) 974-0404 or you may submit an online request<https://fire/cfprojects/COMM/CommServReq_login.cfm> for assistance.
