There is a virus propagating throughout the City of Austin right now through email. It appears the subject is "Daily Report". There is a zip file attached with an executable inside. The email appears innocuous until the executable is run and then it spreads via email from the mailbox of the infected machine. All agencies have been notified and CTM is working to resolve this issue ASAP. Current antivirus patterns are not catching this so we're relying on the emails themselves to track it down. If an employee runs the executable we are asking that the PC be removed physically from the network or just turned off. A help desk incident can be opened to track it so we can more easily resolve it once we know more about what it has done, but the immediate concern is just removing it from the network.
Thank you,
Chris Stewart
IT Supervisor
